This weekend Donn Janes, along with many other Tea Party members from across the State, traveled to Washington D.C. to voice their opposition to the HCR legislation. He and others worked to lobby those in Congress against its passage. In a last minute deal with Rep. Stupak and other so called Pro-Life Democrats, the Congressional leadership was able to secure the votes needed for its passage.
“The American people stood up to Congress and demanded that the un-Constitutional Health Care Proposal be voted down.” Stated Janes, “This past weekend, I joined tens of thousands of concerned citizens nationwide who dropped what they were doing and traveled to Washington D.C. We urgently assembled at the nation’s Capitol Building in an effort to directly lobby Congress.
These citizens made their voices heard as they chanted outside the Representative’s chambers ‘KILL THE BILL!’ Regretfully, as the vote finally came down Sunday night, it was made clear that we citizens were ignored by a condescending group of Democratic Representatives who thought they new what was better for us than we did ourselves.”
Now that I have returned to the 8th District, I find that Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen has flip flopped on his earlier statement rejecting this health care legislation as bad policy. “
Donn Janes now joins the call for Governor Bredesen and Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey to demand that the State’s Attorney General join the efforts of the many States filing lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of this legislation.
“There are many provisions in this bill that are unconstitutional, but it is the mandatory coverage clause that will be the main point of contention,” Mr. Janes stated. “Legislationrequiring the citizens of the United States to purchase health insurance is a gross violation of the enumerated powers stated in the Constitution and is in violation of the 10th Amendment; all powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
“We the People” understand that this is more than a campaign issue. We cannot wait until November to set this matter straight. It is imperative that we act immediately in the best interest of future generations of Americans.
Donn”
Donn Janes is a candidate for the United States House of Representatives for Tennessee’s 8th Congressional District. A Navy veteran and businessman, Janes is an outspoken critic of how both the Republican and Democrat Parties have continued to ignore any calls for fiscal responsibility, causing the United States to plunge deeper into debt.
